Abstract submission

The SIB Days 2016 are a unique occasion for SIB members to present their work to the SIB community and promote collaborations.

The Scientific Committee and SIB Management invite you to submit an abstract for the following presentation types:

  • Poster
  • Talk (20 minutes + 10 minutes Questions & Answers) and poster
  • Lightning Talk (5 minutes, for PhD students only) and poster

There are two Poster sessions, a first one on Tuesday 7 June between 15:00 and 16:15, and a second one on Wednesday 8 June between 14:45 and 15:30. There will be an Award for the best poster presentation.

The Talks will take place on Tuesday 7 June between 10:50 and 12:30 in two parallel sessions. Each Talk will be 20 minutes with 10 minutes time for discussion.

The Lightning talks will take place on Wednesday 8 June between 8:30 and 9:20 in a plenary session and allow to briefly introduce the associated poster presentation. They are reserved for PhD students and will be 5 minutes each. The best Lightning talk will be acknowledged with an Award.

Once logged in, you will be directed to a page with menu tabs on the top. To start the submission process, please click on the 'Submission' tab, which will take you to the submission form. Please follow the guidelines on the submission form. The title and the abstract should be entered in plain text and should not contain HTML elements. The abstract should be written in an unstructured format and aim to attract those who work on your specific topic as well as those working in related areas. Separate sections for Background, Materials and Methods, etc., are not needed. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words.

To characterize your submission, you should select one relevant domain among the following topics in which your work fits:

  • Medicine and health/clinical bioinformatics
  • Evolution and phylogeny
  • Structural biology
  • Systems biology
  • Bioinformatics infrastructure
  • Drug development
  • Ontology engineering
  • Text mining
  • Biocuration

  • Teaching

When the form is adequately filled out, please press the ‘Submit' button, which appears at the end of the submission form. You will receive an email from the conference "EasyChair" stating that your submission was successful. This email is solely a notification that EasyChair for SIB Days 2016 has received the abstract.

Key dates for abstract submission

  • Submission deadline: 29 April 2016, 23:59 CET
  • Final decisions: 20 May 2016.

Please note that if you submit an abstract, you are expected to register for the SIB Days 2016 and pay the corresponding registration fee (if applicable).

The abstracts will be posted on the SIB intranet, they will not be included on the SIB website.

The use of Twitter and other social media is allowed during the SIB Days 2016. If you do not wish to have your talk or poster tweeted, please make this clear at the moment of the presentation. Here is a handy symbol:
